James Herring and his son Jack are attempting to find out who wrote a note they discovered in the Thames. The pair had been taking part in a powerboating course last weekend when they came across a green bottle that had unexpectedly surfaced next to their boat’s outboard motor.Inside was a scrunched-up handwritten note.
“This is in memory of a dear son and brother who died of a broken heart, two years after his beloved Lisa,” it read. “He loved her so, so much.”
“They had a passion for travel and one of their favorite songs was ‘Somewhere beyond the sea’.”
“So this is your final adventure, Jon, your last journey to paradise, and Lisa waiting on those Golden Sands – together forever.” The note did not reveal the surnames of the couple, nor the name of the person who wrote it.
“On reading the note he (Jack) had so many questions about Jon and Lisa and their song,” said James. “How did he die? How did she die? Can you actually die of a broken heart?”
A Twitter post about the mystery has so far received over 3,500 likes, however nobody has come forward as the author of the note or to provide additional details about the couple it describes.
It’s possible that we will never know for sure who they were or what happened to them.
